Name: Diesel
Breed: Bavarian Mountain Scent Hound
Years Tracking: 8
Recovered Deer: 500+

Diesel is an 8-year-old male Bavarian Mountain Scent Hound and the dog that started it all for us. From the moment we pull up to a track and slip his harness on, his drive and passion are unmistakable. Quite simply, there is nothing in his world he loves more than tracking—and ultimately putting his teeth on a recovered deer or elk.

Originating in Germany, the Bavarian Mountain Scent Hound is renowned for its intelligence, relentless work ethic, and exceptional cold-nose tracking ability, and Diesel embodies every one of those traits. In the field, he is all business: focused, determined, and tireless. Off the track, he is a deeply loyal and cherished family companion with a gentle, steady presence.  Simply put, he’s a special, once-in-a-lifetime dog that I’m proud to call my best friend.

To date, Diesel has more than 500 recoveries and has logged hundreds of miles with his nose to the ground, following wounded deer and elk through every kind of terrain and condition imaginable. He brings a hard-charging, no-nonsense approach to every track and simply refuses to quit if there’s a chance your animal can be recovered.

Name: Ada
Breed: Bavarian Mountain Scent Hound
Years Tracking: 0
Recovered Deer: 0

Ada is the newest addition to our tracking crew and our family—and she also happens to be Diesel’s daughter. Born in July of 2025, she represents the next generation of our program. Since joining us, our focus has been on allowing her to settle into life at home while building a strong foundation of obedience, confidence and trust.

Even at a young age, Ada is already displaying many of the same traits that define her dad: sharp intelligence, a very healthy dose of stubborn determination, endless energy and deep loyalty. She is observant, engaged and always eager to work, making her an exciting young prospect.

Ada’s formal tracking training is just beginning. While we continue to prioritize obedience and let her simply be a puppy, we have started the early stages of teaching her to track. Through controlled scent box exercises, she is being carefully imprinted on the smells of blood, hair, and interdigital gland scent—laying the groundwork for the disciplined, methodical tracking work she will grow into in the years ahead. We fully expect her to be tracking and recovering deer in 2026.
